1. endanger vt. 危及，危害

The polluted air in the city is badly endangering the health of the residents.

城里被污染的空气正严重地危及居民的健康。

2. limb n. 大树枝

注意limb的结尾b是不发音的，类似的词还有comb，tomb，你还能举几个例子吗？

branch也是树枝的意思，他们的区别就是limb指的是粗大的树枝，branch指的则是比较细小的树枝。

3. lack n. 缺乏

后面常跟介词of

The lack of rain aggravated the serious lack of food.

由于干旱少雨,缺粮问题更加严重。

lack也可以作动词用。

He lacks courage.

他缺乏勇气。

4. ambush n. 埋伏

The soldiers were lying in an ambush.

士兵们埋伏起来。

5. plight n. 困境

He is in a sad plight.

他陷入了悲惨的境地。
